TOMB PERIOD 墓
250 CE - 710 CE
Queen Himiko/Pimiko set the tone for the Tomb period, however this period can be separated into two separate eras, the Kofun 250 - 538, and the Asuka 538 - 710.
The Kofun era is named for its burial mounds. Shintoism emerges at this time as the prominent belief system.
The Asuka era is distinguishable by the arrival of Buddhism 552 CE, as well as the Taika reforms in 645 CE.
These two eras are often referred to as the Yamamoto period.
